Belotero is an injectable filler that has enjoyed immense popularity since its 2011 approval by the FDA. Similar to Restylane and Juvederm in that it is a hyaluronic acid-based filler, Belotero offers its own specific, special benefits.

The filler is renowned for its outstanding ability to disperse into the dermis. It therefore does not risk the Tyndall Effect, or that bluish skin tint effect that appears on those with lighter skin following injections.

Where Is Belotero Used?

Belotero is used with great success to treat “smoker’s lines,” or lines that appear above the lips due to genetics or from years of smoking cigarettes. The filler is therefore ideal for women who have these hereditary lines or who smoke but enjoy wearing lipstick, as it eliminates the risk of the makeup migration. Belotero is also used with great results to correct “smile” lines or lines at the corners of the mouth or chin.

How Long Does Belotero Last?

As with other hyaluronic acid fillers, Belotero lasts six to 12 months. How long effects last depend on the patient and where the wrinkle filler was injected.

Are There Side Effects?

Patients have yet to report severe side effects from Belotero injections. The only mild side effect to be reported is minor swelling. Many patients enjoy no side effects after receiving Belotero injections.

Do Injections Hurt?

We infuse our Belotero injections with small amounts of Lidocaine to reduce injection site pain. And while this action thins the filler somewhat, the result is improved fine line treatment.
