As if we needed another reason to eat more chocolate, here’s a doozy: dark chocolate that is rich in Flavonols can actually help to lower your blood pressure a bit.
While the results weren’t dramatic, this meta-study analyzing 20 other studies clearly showed a small reduction in blood pressure amongst the people who ate at least a bit of dark chocolate or cocoa on a regular basis.
While this is clearly not a cure for what ails you, doctors say that dark chocolate consumption might actually compliment other measures to lower your BP. Of course, more research needs to be done, but in the mean time, do we really need an excuse to add a little chocolate to our diets?
