Many dermatologists view leg vein treatments–or sclerotherapy— as complicated, but they are not as complicated as believed.
At the 2012 Fall Clinical Dermatology Conference, Dr. Robert A. Weiss, M.D., director of the Maryland Laser, Skin and Vein Institute, Hunt Valley, Md., and associate professor of dermatology, Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, explained otherwise.
Dr. Weiss said that an ultrasound examination of the saphenous vein is not as necessary as many dermatologists believe because 99% of the time, the case will not involve the saphenous system.
