Study: New Ways to Make the Skin Look Younger

What surrounds the skin cells plays a role in how we age, just as skin cells play a role.

A new study by University of Michigan researchers shows that plumping up the extracellulal matrix (ECM, i.e. the are surrounding the skin cells) makes cells behave like younger cells.

Oh, my God—you look so immature!

Well, maybe the results aren’t that astounding. But this news means that aged skin can respond positively to changes in the mechanical properties of its environment.

So this is exciting news, especially since it comes from a scientific study by reputable researchers.
