Governor Jerry Brown passed a law in July that dramatically upped the fines for unlawful medical spas in the state which perform medical treatments outside the legally mandated framework.

This video outlines the new law and how it will positively impact patients in California by making it harder to unscrupulous providers to skirt the law and get away with it.

Fines of up to $50,000 dollars coupled with up to five years jail time will now await those who operate illegal spas, a large increase from the mere $200 fine that had been mandated under the old law.

The legislation goes into effect this coming January 1st.
