Virus May Treat Acne

Scientist don’t know a lot about what causes acne, and there have been no significant developments in the treatment of it for decades. Benzoyl peroxide, antibiotics and Accutane remain the best options for most people.

But researchers from UCLA and the University of Pittsburgh have found a virus that lives on the skin, seeking out pimple-causing bacteria to kill. The virus causes no harm to humans; it is simply programmed to seek out and destroy acne causing bacteria.

This discovery could revolutionize the treatment of acne.
